[Question]Removed accidentally heat paste from coupler, is it a big problem?

During a clog I had to disassemble, clean and re-assemble the hot end

I noticed that the coupler has PLA stain on the heatblock side and the heat paste between it and the heat sink was slightly removed.

I'm recently experiencing uneven extrusion problems with no clog in the whole hotend.
Can this depend on the heat-chain that doesn't work effectively? Or I have to search elsewhere for problems?

In the end this is not the source of my problems, still I would love to hear an opinion anyway 🙂

I use a heat paste that I got from building computers Arctic Alumina from arcticsilver.com due to its high heat rating and yes I replace it when ever I have to tear down a hot end for nozzle jams

But most of the time I use a method from Bob at http://projects.ttlexceeded.com/3d_printing.html that uses a 1.5mm brass rod that you can get at any good hobby store or from Amazon https://smile.amazon.com/Round-Brass-Rod-Diameter-Engineering/dp/B01C6LUO5Q/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1EB3B1UASG0AJ&keywords=1.5mm+brass+rod&qid=1551217096&s=gateway&sprefix=1.5mm+bra%2Caps%2C157&sr=8-2 you just have to open the idler door to pass the rod down to push through the clog through the heated nozzle if this does not work it is time for atomic cold pull with cleaning filament and if that does not work it is tear down the whole hot end to clear the plugger nozzle

The grease ensures the thermal transfer is as complete as it can be. Without it, the heat break can get too hot and plastic can build up there making it harder to clear plugs.

It also looks like you aren't torquing the nozzle against the heat break and plastic is getting to the threads.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind next time, looks way better 😀

Yes, the first big leak I had was for not torquing enough the nozzle and it blobbed all out from the sides of it
Now every time I change the nozzle I'm making sure it's well in place (I usually screw it until I need a plier to keep steady the heatblock or the nozzle will turn it)

Would 1.6mm brass rod be any better?
https://www.amazon.co.uk/10pcs-Welding-Sticks-Repair-Brazing/dp/B079B5LDRD/ref=sr_1_6?adgrpid=58891928611&hvadid=259047259862&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=1007151&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1o2&hvqmt=b&hvrand=4194573658238979326&hvtargid=kwd-297377838641&keywords=brass+rod&qid=1551295611&s=gateway&sr=8-6&tag=googhydr-21

Normal people believe that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Engineers believe that if it ain’t broke, it doesn’t have enough features yet.

if I could not get the 1.5mm rod I would give it a try but the 1.5mm has worked just fine for me so far. The stuff I referenced is a standard item at most good hobby shops in the US anyway. I would expect to find it at the UK craft shops that support the fine scale model RR hobby as well as the RC part of the hobby... they will have racks of brass in all sorts of shapes. not just rod. but the K&S 1.5mm rod is also sold by UK amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Round-Brass-Rod-Diameter-Engineering/dp/B01C6LUO5Q/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1551307499&sr=8-3&keywords=1.5mm+brass+rod
