I really like the interface which is handy when you have to fill the build plate with parts. It is very fast and it is nice that the build plate represents the actual MK2 plate.

I think a nice feature would be able to save the build plate to a STL file so I could play around with settings in the regular PE Slic3r.

I really only use 5 profiles in the regular PE slic3r so my understanding is that these can be imported into PrusaControl using the json configuration files.

My regular workflow involves using a Mac which prevents me from using it on a daily basis since today you can only run it on a PC. UPDATE: I now see the Mac version and will give it a try this evening.

Is it possible to print directly from PrusaControl? I was able to import model, slice it, generate g-code, save the g-code. But there is no communication setup or print button. In the artical at www.prusaprinters.org it is written "The main goal is to open an object and hit print". It is still to be done, or I missed something?
I am using Slic3r and Octoprint, which suites me quite well, but this PrusaControl seems simple enough to teach my son and wife how to use it.

Slic3r is able to import the PrusaControl project files.
Also Slic3r is able to import the configuration from a G-code, just slice with PrusaControl and load the g-code as a config file into Slic3r. Then you may import the PrusaControl project file, slice in Slic3r and you shall get the same results as if sliced with PrusaControl.

I like how the is a icon that will let me rotate things with the mouse around the z axis. Could we a rotate icon for the x and y? Many thingiverse stl are upside down.

I loaded a gcode file, but the model would not render using the mac version. Just the 1st layer showed up.

Currently not, you will create G-code, which I suggest to copy on your SDCard.

It would be cool if an option was available to print in quiet mode for long prints that will run all night.

I have a profile that does the following to make printing all night not as loud.
- Use slower acceleration values
- Do not use zhop

I have the steppers in low power mode, but today there is not a gcode command to accomplish this... but maybe in a future firmware release?

Also, it would be cool to be able to pause the print after X hours which could then be restarted from the LCD since long prints may go on for days.
This would do the following when printing from the SD card:
- After printing for X hours pause the print
- Cool down the hot end
- Cool down the bed
- Display a message to continue on the LCD
- On startup heat the bed and nozzle back up, run the color change routine to prime the nozzle

Is there a problem with the files available for download? I just tried to download the Windows version, on 2 different systems (Windows 10 & 7), and they keep downloading a 0 byte file.

You can rotate on the x and y (and z) axis by using the Rotation section under [u Object settings[/u] once the object is selected. I have found that to be more than adequate and actually faster than the icon as I can type in the exact degrees.

I like Prusa Control but only use it occasionally because of the profiles that I have fine tuned in PE Slic3r such as XY compensation.

If Prusa Control could allow a one way import of printing profiles from PE Slic3r then I think many users would start using it. I know this can be manually done by editing the json config files but this will be a barrier for others.

just got my mk2s, and must say my first prints with PrusaControl and the included silver PLA in the kit were just awesome.

are we confined to the filament types in the dropdown? got some PETG from a local shop to try it out. but there is no place i can add filament type and change bed/nozzle temps. i tried "Generic PET" setting, but the prints came out stringy.

also no indication of temps for each filament type in the dropdown so i've no idea where to start as reference (well until the gcode is generated).

i understand its beta and not sure if use case is intended for this 'beginner' software (sure i can change temps in LCD) but yeah, experimented with slic3r and got good results.

I'm quite happy with PrusaControl so far, especially since the time estimates are within a minute or two, which is awsome! No other slicer that I've used came even close.

It got stuck a couple of times with generating G-code, so I had to use Slic3r for those cases.

I was led to believe that PrusaControl uses the same slicer engine, but I've seen a slightly different results when using Slic3r and PrusaControl with the same settings, mainly when it comes to sloping walls.

I really miss full 3D preview of the generated G-code. Trying to figure out how the supports will look based on 2D slices is useless. This should absolutely be part of the final release.

I do the same as Peter, I use craftware to view the Gcode. It's very fast to load, you can also have an estimated time of the print as well as the lenght of the filament used. I also miss the full 3d preview and so much things that I'm used to use in slic3r...

How accurate is Craftware in terms of time estimation? I've tried gcode.ws and Simplify3D and they both give estimates that are usually way off (more than an hour on a 5h print). With PrusaControl, the estimates are usually within a minute or two, even on bigger prints.

My current workflow is to use Slic3r and then load the gcode in PrusaControl for time estimate. It's a bit annoying, but it works.
