Prusa i3 not seen in COM list for firmware update

I'm running Windows 11 (flames held back by request).

My printer has been on the shelf for awhile, but it's time to do some printing again.

Things that have changed......new laptop (hence Windows 11).

So I downloaded the current version of PrusaSplice and it runs fine. But my Prusa i3 is running old firmware.

Downloaded the latest firmware, connected to my i3 and turned it on.

Firmware updater lists over 15 COM ports and none of them are attached to my i3.    So I ran dpinstx64 and it tells me the install was successful.

Rebooting does not change anything. Gawd, I hate Microsoft....oh, sorry that slipped out.

How do I proceed to get my computer to see my i3 so I can update it's firmware?

Try install pronterface and see if it finds it. Why are you seeing so many com ports

Please help me out by downloading a model it's free and easy but really helps me out https://www.printables.com/@Hello_474427/models

I run win11 and the printer is seen and updates works.

Is it possible your new laptop restricts some configurations by default? (Security, firewall, anti virus settings....)

Does plugging the printer USB cable elicit a "bing" acknowledgement? If you use a USB cable to connect the two could it be a charging only cable with no data lines?

Some devices software might limit the top COM port address that they can use (like not seeing anything over 15)
