Prints shifting after a few layers

Hi all,

Thank you for taking the time to help me troubleshoot.

Lately, all my prints have been shifting after the first few layers.

Here are a few details:

  • Original Prusa i3 MK3S (bought in 2019)
  • This occurs whether it be a single print or multiple.
  • Occurs on glue or no glue
  • Lubricated in the past few months

Please let me know what the community thinks and what some options I have to troubleshoot.

Thank you in advance,

Patty

Clean the sheet with dishwashing detergent (Dawn/Fairy) and plenty of HOT water, rinse well and dry with a fresh paper towel. Handle by the edges only.

Cheerio.

Are they dragging around the bed or are the first layers stuck well, and you are getting layer shifts?  Layer shifts can be caused by loose grub screws on the pulleys, very loose belts, or over-tightened bearings on the X and Y axis.

@dan-rogers

The first layers are stuck then the layer shift happens at about the same point and the rest of the print turns out fine on top of the newly shifted print.  Even without the glue, the first layer adheres very well before apparent shift.

I'll check the screws, belts and bearings when I get home from work and let you know how it works.

Thank you!

@diem

I'll try to do this periodically, with or without glue.  I don't use glue often,  but I do find myself struggling to take it off when I do.

Thanks
