Printing at different print qualities with the MK3S+

Hi everyone, hope you are all ready for Christmas!

I hope this is the correct forum as I have a printing question, I am printing out some text on a rectangular base. The base is 3mm thick and approx. 40mm x 70mm in size and printed in PLA. I then put in a pause to do a PLA colour swap and then print some text on top of the rectangle that is additional 1.5mm in height. Because I want a good resolution with nice readable text I use the Prusa PLA 0.20mm print height. The problem is that the MK3S+ is not the fastest printer (I still love though!!) and the print I want takes nearly an hour to complete. Is it possible to print the 3mm thick rectangular base using the 0.3mm draft quality and then when I do the filament swap for the colour also change the print quality to 0.2mm quality or better just to get the nicer text.

It would be nice to see that option on the right click menu for pause/color change then to have change print quality

Here is hoping 🙂

Cheers All

Not in the manner you suggest but a similar effect can be created with the variable layer height button.  It may be best to start from a setting between the results you want and then adjust both ways.  Quicker prints are always a trade-off against quality and sometimes strength but you can usefully concentrate cosmetic effects only where people are likely to look.

RE: Printing at different print qualities with the MK3S+

You can also use height range modifiers to define specific layer heights for different levels.  So your base can be 0.3 and the text 0.2 or whatever.

As its a height range modifier then any of the settings that can be applied to modifiers can be defined.
So such things as extrusion widths, infill types, and more importantly Speeds.

So while you can't apply a different profile directly you can configure the height range modifier with all the important settings from the draft profile.
