Printer won't turn on after dropping a set of calipers on the print bed

I grabbed a pair of 6 inch calipers from my shelf and it fell out of my hands and landed pretty squarely on my print bed, from about one foot up. Really didn't think it would be a big deal other than maybe scratching the flexible sheet, but for some reason the LCD went completely dark. When I power cycle now I don't hear any of the fans whir up, and I don't hear my MMU2 go through its motions of calibrating its position, etc. You know, the normal sounds of turning on a Prusa printer. My printer power supply IS still supplying power, I have an Octopi set up, and the raspberry pi and touch screen all fire up fine, but just can't connect to the printer.

Maybe the strangest thing, is that when I go to the back of the LCD and unplug "EXP1" - the fans power up, the MMU2 starts moving to calibrate, the octopi connects to my printer. Of course with this unplugged I cant use my LCD screen.

Just some other notes that could be related, I recently did this mod for a dimmable screen but it has been working fine for a couple weeks. Could the impact have shorted something? And would something being shorted on the LCD cause the printer to get no power even if the Einsy motherboard itself is powered? Thanks for any tips on what could be happening.

Sounds like something connected to that cable has fried, I'd try another cable first.

RE:

They make calipers in inches?

But seriously, no way print bed, relative to that impact are related, at the very least you would have had to move or displace a cable connected to the display in question.

P.S. I don't own  a pair of Calipers that aren't metric, you should consider the Metric system it is superior, and I live and was born in the U.S. and I'm a designer for 30 plus years.

They’re digital calipers… and measure both metric and imperial. As such an experienced designer I would think you’d know calipers are sized and sold by their max measurement, 6, 8, and 12 inches are common. Not sure how over half your answer can be focused on such an insignificant detail. Anyway I’m just going to replace the LCD I suppose.

P.S. Have you ever seen a ruler that has inches on one edge and mm on the other? It’s like that, but with more batteries

THE FIX

Sharing in case anyone else gets an unresponsive LCD/printer

When I unscrewed the mounting bolts on the LCD to remove it, I powered on just to see and the LCD came right up, everything worked fine. I must have had the screws tightened unevenly or too much. Somehow I guess dropping my 150mm calipers on the printer must have been enough to make the pressure matter. Recommend being careful when mounting the LCD to its holder and not over tightening. I have a custom display panel holder which may contribute to the issue.
