Printer stops printing after random times

Hi,
since a few weeks, the printer (Prusa I3 Mk3) will stop to print randomly. Sometimes it will complete a print, sometimes it stops after 20 minutes or after some hours even. But the problem is always the same: The printer stops moving, the target temperature channgegs to 0 for both the hotend and the heatbed and "heating..." is shown onn the display.
To top it off, the clommpetion time till completion and the percentage start to go verrry fast towards completion.
I tried formating the SD and flashing the printer with an older firmware, where I didn´t had the problems, but it didn´t helped.

So I really hope, someone can hhelp me here, bescause like this the printer is nigh unusable to me.

Does sound like a gcode / SD card issue, possibly an SD card reader issue, it's pretty hard to say without seeing the gcode to make sure that's OK. I know you say that you've formatted but have you tried a different SD card - these things can do some weird things when they are on the way out and it can be hit and miss if your stored file is OK or not - try reading back a gcode file from a print that fails into notepad++ (or similar decent text editor) and check to see if any odd characters or just the general appearance - does it look correct - do you see the end of print gcode from the Slicer settings at the end ?

This kind of thing happens when the printer gets a gcode instruction it doesn't understand or can't access the SD card. Have you tried printing from within Slicr3PE / Simplify3D / Pronterface ?

If you can complete a print via USB OK then it confirms where the issue likely is.

Thanks for the help, I actually downggraded to the firmware that got delivered with the printer and until now all is ok. But if the problem arises again, I will try your tips.
