printer not following slicer temp settings?

mk3s firmware 3.9.3

slicer 2.3.1

my slicer filament settings are for PLA temps, 215 C on the nozzle and 60 on the bed.

When I send the file to the printer it will only heat the nozzle to 170 C

Have a feeling this is hard coded somewhere in the model stl, is that even possible?  I didn't generate the stl.

well, weird.   As soon as I posted that I tried to print again and I didn't catch it before it started calibrating points.   After it did that pass it stopped and increased the temp to 215C.  New behavior for me.

RE: printer not following slicer temp settings?

A lot of us modified our start up routines to preheat to a non drip temp prior to mesh leveling.  Mines set for 160c.    When Prusa released the mini they incorporated the same technique and that uses a preheat to 170c, do leveling and then heat to full printing temp.

Sounds like Prusa have added the same to the MK3 start gcode routines now too.  It means you don.t get filament deposited all over the bed when it does mesh leveling.

RE: printer not following slicer temp settings?

This is standard behavior on the Mini. The nozzle is warmed in a 2-step process. This reduces stringing during mesh bed leveling. The 2nd warmup stage to printing temps happens after mesh bed leveling. Just wait and let it finish. You can add this to the Mk3 using a variety of custom start gcode options. If this is happening on a Mk3, you must be using a custom 3D printer preset.

RE: printer not following slicer temp settings?

Temps cant be coded into an stl file as an stl is just coordinate positions and how they are connected, but the start gcode and temps CAN and will be embedded in a Prusa Slicer 3mf file, which is a project file that contains the model and ALL the settings used when the file was created.

So if you downloaded someones 3mf then its quite possible that you are running its start gcode rather than your normal printers.  One reason you shouldnt blindly download and run one from the internet.  As someone being malicious could embed all sorts of nasty behavior in one.
