Printer detecting no filament

I've run into an interesting problem that maybe someone else has dealt with. Recently my printer will stop during a print and believe that the filament has run out when there is still plenty left. The printer then stops and makes me unload and reload the filament to continue. Has anyone else seen/fixed this, or have any ideas before I start taking everything apart?

Re: Printer detecting no filament

Peter, there have been a good deal of reports where the filament sensor behaves quite inconsistently with very glossy and translucent filaments. Those using this have disabled the sensor altogether.

See if this could help you. Also see if the sensor eye has dust a/o filament remnants on it. A good gentle cleaning could be all that's required.

Let us know of your findings.
