Print adherence

Hi everyone,

I know this is a rather basic issue, but hear me out. My first PLA prints with the Prusa i3 MK3 went pretty well, but when I switched to Flexfill 98A (Metallic Grey Prusament) almost every print since then has failed in some way because of adherence.

I have tried adding stick glue to the bed, cleaning it thoroughly with alcool, acetone and water, starting over. I have switched back to regular PLA (Vanilla White and Silver Prusament), tried slowing down the printing speed at least for the first layer but still get these problems (see picture below)... I'm currently very frustrated, disappointed and desperate with my printer.

Any advice will be very much appreciated!
Stephane

RE: Print adherence

Your Live-Z setting looks pretty good and the 1st layer -- at least what we can see of it -- looks decent. Your print surface, however, looks filthy. What has accumulated on it that is creating that rough surface? 1st thing I'd do is take it to the kitchen sink and give it a good was with plain Dawn dish soap. Use a clean paper towel to scrub it and another to dry it. And above all else, avoid touching the print area! Once properly cleaned, you should not be able to dislodge 1st layer lines with a gentle poke of the finger. They should adhere firmly. After that, repeat the Live-Z adjustment (search here for "Life Adjust" to find Jeff Jordan's procedure that simplifies 1st layer calibration.)

Many thanks for the advice!

What looks filthy on the print surface is glue...

I've tried what you suggested and it looks like it's working better now. At least now I know I can also play with the live z setting! Thank you.
