Preview Bug in Prusaslicer 2.3.0

I've noticed a fairly significant bug in Prusaslicer 2.3.0 and I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing it, and if there is a workaround.  Whenever slicing a large object, or using the Preview button to see the layer view, after the software completes its processing, the object simply disappears and it just shows a blank build plate. In some cases, rather than a blank build plate, it will instead display a heavily distorted view of the object, which is useless for the purposes of viewing the layers. Just as an example, this will happen if trying to slice the sample STL of Nefertiti that is included with the software. Smaller, less detailed objects work fine. I can reproduce this issue consistently and reliably.  Unfortunately this renders Prusaslicer 2.3.0 useless for larger, more compex objects where a detailed layer view is necessary to dial in the settings.  I did some Google searching and the issue was mentioned as a bug in the alpha and RC builds, but apparently was never addressed.  The problem does NOT occur in Prusaslicer 2.2.0. Can someone else test this and let me know if they are seeing a similar problem?  I am on a Mac running High Sierra, and I have a MK3S+.

Anyone?  I can't believe I'm the only one with this issue.  Can someone else on a Mac try a test, by slicing a tall, somewhat complex object, such as the STL of the Nefertiti bust, on v2.3.0 and let me know if they are also seeing the preview disappear and/or become distorted?  This bug renders the software useless for larger prints.

Is this the issue you are experiencing? https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/5566

I'm on a Mac and occasionally have a case where the rendered, sliced object does not show in the preview.  Re-slicing it always fixes it for me.  Sounds like your issue and the one recorded in the PrusaSlicer GitHub page is different than the minor nuisance that I have experienced.

Yes, that's it.  Sometimes I get the distortion that is pictured in that link, and sometimes the preview simply comes up blank.  However, unlike in your case, re-slicing does not fix it for me.  I have not found a workaround other than to downgrade to v2.2.0, but if you have any suggestions I'd be eager to try them.   I really love some of the new features of v.2.3.0 and it's really a drag that I can't make use of them.   BTW I have tested this issue on two different Macs running two different versions of the MacOS and it happens on both.

Sorry, I have no suggestions.  At least a bug is recorded for it.  If you have a GitHub account, you can follow the bug and also help vote it up.  The more people who weigh in on this as being an issue for them, the higher the priority to help bring attention to the development team.

@egar

Thanks, I'll do that.   Just curious, what version of the MacOS are you running?

Currently on Big Sur 11.2, but had the same experiences on 11.1.  It's a 2019 MacBook Pro (Intel CPU).

FWIW, the sometimes blank sliced rendering was also the same for me back on PrusaSlicer 2.2.  So I haven't seen any different behavior on v2.3

Interesting, thanks.   Perhaps a coincidence, or perhaps not, but my MacBook Pro has 16GB of RAM, an Intel Core i5 processor and an Intel HD3000 graphics card, same as the user who reported that bug on Github that you linked.  So, maybe it's an issue isolated to those with somewhat older graphics systems.  In any case, it doesn't seem to be OS version specific.

My specs are a little different.  Still 16GB RAM, but an i7 CPU and the AMD Radeon PRO 5300M graphics.  If anything was a factor there, I'd assume it would be the graphics card.
