poorly aligned hotend after swap

Hi all,

unfortunately the already questionable thermistor cable gave up on me yesterday. But not being entirely stupid I had a replacement and a completely new hotend assembly ordered with the last lot of filament. And after realizing that the grub screw is of course buried under a nice coating of plastic I decided to just pop the new hotend in and do the restoration of the old one at some later point.

So far so good, new hotend in place and testing the alignment with a wee bbq skewer and to my surprise it wouldn't enter the PTFE tube. Tube isn't blocked a 1mm Allen key passes easily. But not the skewer (approx. 1.8mm) which has previously worked and not a piece of filament. I did a few iterations of loosening the screws and giving everything a gentle wiggle and waggle but every time the screws are tightened again it is not aligned.

Any clever suggestions anybody?

Thanks in advance
Hansjoerg

me again...

Sometimes it helps to write a post and then try again.

After loosening everything again I inserted a length of filament while everything was still loose. After pushing it all together again and gently tightening the screws while constantly checking for alignment it now works again.

Maybe this helps somebody with a similar problem.

Cheers
