Plastic connector to heatbed melting
I just noticed the plastic connector to my heated bed is melted. It is not particularly hot now during a print and may have happened over a long period of time (I wasn't checking!). Is this okay or a sign that something is going wrong?
RE: Plastic connector to heatbed melting
Something has gone wrong here, probably a bad connection that creates too much resistance and heats up. Definitely not meant to happen, check the connection as soon as possible!
I see your printer is a mk3, was it a kit? Oh, and this is supposed to be the prusa mini forum, you might want to move the thread...

@matteo-cristini
Thanks for the advice
oops! apologies, I didn't realise that. I will check it out and reprint, if it messes up again I will post to the right forum, thanks for the help!

Hi Jonathan,
I have moved the thread for you.
the heating seems centered around the screw and the connector
can you please check that the stainless steel washer is NOT between the loop cable crimp end, and the copper pad on the heatbed. this is a common error.
regards Joan

Yes, that is exactly what I had done. Thanks for pointing it out, hopefully fixed now!

Hi,
Thank you so much for the tips. For some reason I made the mistake on my printer and I switch the washer's position on the VCC side but GND side was ok.
Problem solved.
This appears as I printed my first PETG prints causing the issues as the bed temperature was significantly higher compared to PLA.
Thank you !

Simple error, confusing result...
you would think, metal, is metal, conducts electricity....
But all metals, are not equal...
All sorted now!
🙂
