PINDA Sensor Lighting Up During Print
Hi all,
I apologize if this is a silly question, but I looked through the manual, build guide, and forum and haven't received a clear answer. I just finished assembling my MK3S last night and did a couple of test prints. No issues with the printer at all, everything appears to be functioning properly.
However, I had a question about the PINDA sensor. The PINDA sensor is lighting up during the print, is this normal? At lower layers, it appears to flash as the extruder goes back and forth, once it hits say, layer 10, the PINDA sensor stays on constantly. Again, there is nothing wrong with the printer, and the prints that are coming out are beautiful. I just wanted to make sure I didn't mount the PINDA sensor incorrectly and am risking damaging it.

The PINDA detects metal - like the steel sheet on the bed. It is used to cal the initial nozzle height for layer 1. After that, it is no longer being used. It is perfectly normal for the LED to be on once a print starts.

It is because of the magnets.
When the bed is probed it isn't a problem because it will be probed where are no magnets.

No question is truly a silly question, unless said question is "Can I ask you a question?", in which case "You just did." -that being said.....
I had a similar problem, except my light stayed on literally all the time, anytime the printer was plugged in and powered on. My issue turns out to be different than yours, and for anybody experiencing this problem, the solution surprised me. The SuperPinda does indeed detect metal, and as it turns out I had the volume of my stereo up too loudly the entire time. I was enjoying "The Audio Injected Soul", an album recorded by Mnemic. They are from Denmark, so it all makes sense to me now. Anyways, happy printing, and be mindful of your environment when printing! In all seriousness I found this thread while looking for information regarding my PINDA light being on during prints, as my "issue" was identical to the Original Post. I guess it's normal, and all my prints are going as intended. (it doesn't stay on indefinitely, and does blink during initial stuff, no worries friends!)
I am already in love with 3D printing, and I look forward to learning from all of you in the forums, and maybe one day having something helpful to share myself!
TL:DR- I noticed my PINDA light (the red sensor light) being lit up without blinking during the actual print process, and was worried that it should be off or at least flickering like it does when doing the calibration. Turns out, it's normal. Phew. Thanks for sharing~
