Part cooling fan: Is the yellow cable necessary?

So I just printed this dual fan cooling mount: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2978427

In the description, the maker says "The second fan does not need to be a "three wire" type - simply join the red/black wires of your new fan to the red/black wires of the existing Prusa fan, and you're ready to go."

I'm just wondering. What do I do with the yellow fan cable? Is that cable necessary?

Yellow cable is for the fan speed determination. Because you have only one input (one fan), the controller doesn't care about the second one.

Perfect.

My plan then is to separate the red/white cable from the yellow cable on the original fan, and then splice the red/white cables from the new fan onto the red/white cables from the original plan. I will just remove the yellow cable from the new fan.

Thanks for the help!
