Overextrusion before slicer.

Hello, new to the forum, and hoping to get some help.

Recently rebuilt 1 printer and changed the extruder piece on another, It had a tpu specific head from bondtech and i changed it back to the original components. both mk3s. The rebuilt one works fine, but the one that i changed the extruder on seems to be over extruding, a lot. and this issue is present without using gcode.

by that i mean, in the settings, going into move axis, extruder, when i spin up +50 on the working one, it pulls about 5cm of filament into the head and extrudes it. when i do the same for the other, it pulls about 14 cm of filament in. i cannot find a setting anywhere that alters this aside from the extrusion multiplayer in the slicer, but as this is occurring without even trying to print a file, so I'm pretty sure it's not related to that. I've tried different nozzles, switching the nozzles between the two, and continue to get the same result, so it's not nozzle related. i've changed the ptfe tube, and tried reassembling it, even re flashing. so far nothing has changed the result. So im hoping someone can help.

RE: Overextrusion before slicer.

It’s not any slicer setting you need to change.

When you change sizes of things in the extruder physically you are fundamentally changing the mechanics, this means that firmware settings stored in eeprom need to be updated, things like steps per mm for the extruder being the most likely in this case.

The same happens if you change pulley wheels on x or y then the physical sizes get distorted until you update those too. Do a Google search for configuring steps per mm.  It’s been ages since I’ve done it but iirc Matts Hub had some good ones.
