Oh No! Two Disconnected Wires After Blob Print
OK, I messed up. An adhesion problem led to a blob print which led to 2 disconnected wires and a lot of residual PLA on the print head.
I bought the i3 MK3 a couple of years ago preassembled, so please forgive me for not being more familiar with the assembly and nomenclature. I have included images showing the print head and disconnected wires.
Where do the two blue wires go? (I can see in one of the i3 MK3 assembly images that there appears to be a single blue wire attached near the braided red bundle... while in the other assembly image there are two white wires going into same area... confusing, but I assume at least one of the wires goes here).
Any suggestions for removing the residual PLA?
If this problem is not recoverable, does Prusa offer replacement print head and wiring?
I would appreciate any help. Thanks!
RE: Oh No! Two Disconnected Wires After Blob Print
The blue wires go the the thermistor for the hot end. The replacement comes with the wires.
You may also need to replace the heater cartridge. You can get both from the Prusa eShop. They also sell the complete hotend if you want to go that route.
If it was my printer, I remove the hot end and then use a heat gun to soften the remaining plastic glob so that you can remove it. Then replace the thermistor and put it all back together.
Recovering from the "Blob of Death" is never fun.
RE: Oh No! Two Disconnected Wires After Blob Print
Great info!
Question... where do I find the thermistor replacement and heater cartridge on the eShop? I only see printers, upgrades, and accessories... am I missing something obvious?
Thanks,

The EShop only shows you parts if you are a registered owner and log in.
If yours is not registered, Support can help you. A Chat button will show up shortly after you log in.
Since it is a E3D hot end, E3D online also has any parts you need:
