Official Replacement Parts?

I adopted a Prusa MK3 that has had nothing but problems.  I'd like to rebuild it and replace all the 3D parts, belts, and bearings, as well as some of the hardware that goes with the bed.  Is there an option to purchase the hardware?  I am more than comfortable printing the 3D parts, but I'd like to keep the machine sourced with Prusa replacement parts.

Thank you,

Jay

Sourcing  all of the the mechanical and plastic parts from Prusa will be expensive, as you have to order each part individually and pay shipping on the total.

It's unlikely that all of the parts are faulty,

if you suspect assembly issues, just go throught the assembly instructions and check everything is well...

If you have a problem with the Bed Power cables, I would reccommend replacing them with flexible Silicone insulated 16AWG wires in preference to the original Prusa wires...

Have you considered going Full Bear, or Zaribo? and printingyour own parts as an option?

regards Joan

@joantabb

While it's unlikely that *all* of the parts are faulty, I have already spent more time than I want to chasing gremlins on this machine.  I'm actually OK with paying for all the parts, it just looks like they've all been removed from the public store.  I'm at the point where this printer is very close to being a parts donor, so I am prepared to do a major amount of replacement just to make sure it's working perfect.

I'm assuming that because there's no links in the forums to spare parts, I'll need to open a support ticket- so I'll do that.  It seemed prudent to try the forums first.

I also recommend against throwing parts at a problematic printer.

If you identify your problems one at a time, we can probably step you through them.

If you replace all the parts you mention, you will still have problems. They will just be different ones.

Thank you for your reply, but I wasn't asking if I *should* replace the parts- I was asking where I could get the parts.  Upon further inspection the ability to order spare parts is gone, and the ability to contact support directly seems to be gone as well.  While I truly do appreciate your motives, I disagree. Disassembling a problematic printer down to the original parts and replacing all suspect parts won't leave me with a ghost in the machine, I will have the parts to build a working printer.

I suspect that the bearings have been abused/neglected, including over-tightening of the Y-axis bearings.  It also looks like the heater block wasn't tightened properly, and appears to be ever so slightly leaking.

My intent was simply to find the parts needed, not to be told I didn't want or need them.  It looks like I can find all the part specs online. One suggestion to help people also looking for this- consider a list of parts/manufacturers where people can go- the information is buried but out there.

RE: Official Replacement Parts?

Good Morning Jay,

Let's start again...

You have adopted an Original Prusa Printer!

so... you are not the original owner...

Prusa have an online shop,

When you are not logged in, you cannot see the Spare Parts drop down menu... and if you are hurrying trying to find things, you don't see the Chat option either, because the chat button appears about 5 seconds after the page loads, and you may already have decided that the chat button is not on that page, and selected another page to view... (at first this caught me...   too!)

If you have bought a printer, then when you log into the same page, the appearance is different

In the image above you can see in the top right hand side, that I am 'logged in' as 'Joan Tabb' and the Spare Parts Dropdown is now visible.
and because I waited a short while, the Chat button is visible in the Bottom right corner...

If I click on the Spares Drop down menu, I can now view the spares categories for various printers...

When I bought my first Mk3, I already had access to the Prusa eShop, because I was already a Mk2 owner... but I couldn't see the Mk3 spares, so  I had a chat with support, via the chat button, and they granted me access to the Mk3 spares list as well...

As you didn't buy tha printer directly from Prusa, you may not have access to the full spares inventory.

I suggest that You have a chat with the support desk and show them a picture of your printer serial number sticker, telling them that you adopted the printer off   Mr (Original Owner's Name) , at (Original Owners Address) and the support desk team will usually open up access to the appropriate spares list for you.

Regards Joan

RE: Official Replacement Parts?

inside the spares list,

which shows the various components and which printer they relate to!

however, there are some errors
for instance,

the heater in the 'Mini' spares section is labelled 'Mk3S' but not the 'Mini'...   (be careful with Heaters!!!!!!!!!! if you get the wrong heater...   say Mk2 heater (12 volts, 40watts) and put it in a Mk3 or mk3S (which has a Mk3 or Mk3S 24Volt powersupply) you will damage something, because the heater will try and draw !!!!160Watts!!!!,  and if you are lucky, you will blow a fuse... if you are unlucky you may damage the einsy board or the powersupply... )

RE: Official Replacement Parts?

Instead of digging through blogs and forums there truly is a need for a TECH MANUAL for this printer!!!!

I have wasted tons of hours looking for parts and solutions.

EXAMPLE PART DATA might look something like this:
[A] Bed Thermistor for Prusa i3 MK2 and MK3
(1) NTC 3950 100K Thermistor
(2) High Stability NTC Thermistor 100K -- Note: NTC stands for Negative Temperature Coefficient
(3) 1.25mmx2.0mm glass bead
(4) accuracy: 1%
(5) Resistance value at 25°C=100K
(6) Wiring insulation: high temperature teflon/PTFE
NTC 3950 thermistor 100k datasheet

Having said that here are some places I have found parts

Best of luck!
