[Résolu] Nozzle won't heat up past 25 Celsius

Nozzle won't heat up past 25 Celsius

I had a print going before I went to bed, when I woke up there was a print error in regards to heat and the print was considered failed.  When I removed the failed print and went to start it again, the nozzle won't heat up past 25 degrees Celsius.  I'm guessing I'll have to take the extruder apart and reorder a part but I want to check my options before doing anything too drastic.

 

 Does anyone reading this know what this problem could be exactly?  I'm guessing it could be the heatbreak but perhaps it's an electronic issue.

Is 25 your ambient temperature?  Is the hot end heating at all or it it just rising a few degrees and then stopping?

I'm not sure how to answer that, it used to heat up to 210 or higher but now it doesn't.  I tried manually heating the nozzle but it just stops at 25 celsius.  I guess 25 is the ambient temperature because when I turn my printer on it's always at a minimum of 25 celsius.

So you're saying that it doesn't heat at all?

It might be a thermister issue but that would normally cause an error report so first let's check the heater circuit.

Look at the picture on:  https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/einsy-rambo-electronics-wiring-mk3-mk3s-mk3s_2107

Find the Extruder Heater plug/socket.

Pull out and reinsert the plug.

Does the printer work now?

If not, pull the plug, set the printer heating and check the voltage across those two pins with a multimeter.

No voltage?  Turn off at mains and then check all the fuses.

Voltage but no heating?  Either the hot-end heater or its wiring is broken.

Let us know how you get on.

Don't forget you can always contact support via chat for help. Log into the online store and let them work through the issue. If the printer is under warranty, they'll ship replacement parts.

Thank you for this response.  I haven't done any of this yet and can't until Sunday but I'll buy a multimeter and go through the steps you listed.  I'll post again when I narrow down the issue.

Still trying to figure out this multimeter I bought.  There are about 30 different settings and I'm unsure what setting to use.  i do get an error message now however that says 

PREHEAT ERROR

The only thing I've been able to try is unplugging and plugging the cord back for the heater socket.  It has had no effect.  It may take me a few weeks to figure out this multimeter.  Nothing online has been telling me what I need to set it on for testing.  Don't know if I'm testing for AC/DC voltage less than 600V, AC/DC current, Resistance Measurements, Continuity, Capacitance, Diode Test, Frequency/Duty Cycle.

 

There are no places in Victoria that I can bring it to unfortunately so I do appreciate your patience with someone who got into a hobby that may be over my head.

OK.  You are looking for DC Volts - usually shown as 'V' and a solid line over a dotted one, 'V' and a wiggly line is for AC.

The highest DC voltage we might encounter on the Einsy board will be around 25v.  You will have a range of voltage scales available, start high and work down, never going below the value shown, the lowest safe scale will be the most accurate but we don't need much precision.

If you get a '-' you have the probes on the wrong pins, at the high scales this shouldn't cause damage for several seconds.

Thank you for all your patience.  I tested the two prongs on the Einsy board where the Extruder plugs into and got a voltage of 173 which most likely means that end of it is fine.  I guess this means the hot-end heater or wiring is broken.  I guess now I have to dismantle the extruder pull those parts out and hope Voxel factory can cover me.

To take the diagnostics further you can go to Prusa Support.  I don't know how Voxel work it but direct customers log into their Eshop account, navigate to support and live chat is at bottom right in most browsers. If not try disabling ad-blockers temporarily.
