Nozzle Suddenly Too Close After Crash

I had everything working fine until a roll of filament did not unwind properly, pulling the printer sideways and diagonal in its box and the spindle off the shelf. I cleaned everything up, put the printer back in place, and recalibrated the whole thing using the wizard. However, the Z offset setting I had been using was resulting in what looked like ridging as if the nozzle is way too low. Playing with the Z offset, whenever I finally get good adhesion on the initial line test it's ridging or even blobbing up the filament. I'm not sure what I should do to troubleshoot it.

Please show us the built in first layer calibration print *on the print sheet*

Sorry, had forgotten. Anyway, the settings were perfect before that and now I'm getting this with the same Z offset after running the wizard.

I suspect you have two issues interacting.

The extra friction may have caused debris to build up around the Bondtech gears in the extruder and the extended dwell time may have allowed some filament to overheat causing a partial clog.  Open the extruder idler door and clean out the gearing then, before closing, heat the nozzle to 250C and manually push some filament through - then let it cool and cold-pull the filament.  This should be enough to clear the first issue.

And your first layer Z calibration is too high.  When extrusion is OK you will be able to recalibrate.

RE:

Thanks, that seems to have done it. I was clearly wrongly convinced that the Z offset was too low but it did still have a little junk in the gearing and cleaning filament did the rest.
