Nozzle clogged after firmware update?

This is the first clog I've had.  I was a few firmware revisions behind, and yesterday upgraded to the following: prusa3d_fw_MK3S_MK3S+_3_11_0_4955.hex

After doing many of the same multi color prints before the firmware upgrade, after the firmware upgrade when I went to change the filament on a color change I got a jam.

I tried to then research clog/jam resolution.  I followed the main manual section 13.4 but it did not resolve the issue.

I released the screw and opened the hatch, and used a sharp dental tool to scrape filament out of the gears.  I cycled the auto-filament process until I had scraped out all the filament entrails from the extruder gears.  I used the dental tool to try to push the clog down the filament hole to no avail.  I pushed it down somewhat, but the length is limited.  I tried to use a piece of PLA filament (I only have PLA), to push it down after heating up the nozzle to PLA temp of around 180. I was able to push it down a bit but then no more.  Then, I tried auto-loading a piece of PLA filament after replacing the screw.  It took, but if I try to do a print, the machine acts like it is printing but nothing comes out of the nozzle.

Next I tried taking a very sharp pointed dental tool and poked it up the nozzle to see if that would relieve it; it did not.

I'm looking for tips / guidance on how to get the printer un-clogged...?
