noob troubles
Over a year ago I purchased an unused MK3S+ still in box. Apparently, the only thing missing from the box was the gummy bears.
A few days ago I got around to setting it up. The printer is out in the shop NO INTERNET ACCESS!
I wanted to print a dishwasher part that I downloaded off of thingiverse.
I peeled/popped the "Prusa" and border test print off of the plate.
Plugged in the printer.
The printer went through it's startup calibration and warmup.
firmware level 3.11.0.4955 (IIRC)
I attempted to load the black filament that had been packed in the box (it was still vacuum sealed)
It would not extrude, I kept pushing the "no it hasn''t extruded the new filament" option numerous times
I attempted to load the filament with the Manual option, still nothing (maybe I didn't have the filament sliced sharp enough).
Anyway, I downloaded the latest firmware and the thingiverse file onto the SD card that was in the box.
Only to find out that is NOT how to install new firmware.
So, I downloaded the firmware update onto my laptop (old Linux Mint version)
Apparently, it has flatpak installed.
But running in a terminal window "sudo flatpak install flathub com.prusa3d.PrusaSlicer"
returned "Unable to load summary from remote flathub: URI https://dl.flathub.org/repo/summary exceeded maximum size of 10485760 bytes"
(/home has 4.5 Gb available)
Ever the optomist, i ran "sudo flatpak run com.Puusa3d.PrusaSlicer"
To which it replied...
"app/com.prusa3d.PrusaSlicer//x86.64 not installed"
I'm frustrated/lost.
Please help.
RE: noob troubles
P.s. Do I need to unzip the thingiverse file before downloading it to the printer?
(should I ever get that far? /s)
