Noctua stopping
So I had a bit of trouble with the noctua on my 1-yo MK3. It stopped during preheat, and I just restarted. I blew it out with a compressed air can, and it finished the print.
So is there some preventative maintenance I’ve neglected? Is the fan failing, or can I bring it back?

you may have an intermittent flex fault in the fan wire cable. at one year old I would consider that to be normal wear and replace it but You can try the chat support to see if they will send a replacement... or you can do what some of us doo and replace the wiring with high flex silicone insulated wire this is the size i used for the fan cables the offer it from 10gauge to 28 gauge I used 14 gauge for the heater wiring for example

Possibly. What I’m seeing though is that when I power on or reset, the fan runs at full speed. Every time.
When I preheat, the fan runs at a lower speed, but mine will not start. Ever. at least not any more. Here’s the catch though; if I tell it to preheat, then start the fan spinning manually, like literally spinning it with my finger, it will continue to spin, and I can start the print and run it to completion. I’ve even reset and restarted, as long as I don’t let it cool enough to turn off the fan, it will keep running.
If it was a big AC motor, I’d say the starter capacitor was shot.

Joe that does read more like a problem with the fan than the wiring... I would hit up Prusa chat and try for a replacement if you are less than one year old.... they might say yes and if not just buy a new one and some filament to take a bit of the sting out of the shipping charge.... but first I would check with printedsolid.com to see if they have them back in stock... they do carry the proper mk3/s version of the fan.

Update:
I took to starting the fan with a puff of compressed air while waiting for a replacement to be delivered. I was a little slow one time, and saw it start on it’s own again. It’s actually been working ever since. Current operating theory: it was dust fouled, and the compressed air fixed it, at least for now.
At this point I’m just going to let it ride. The replacement that was delivered was one of the black one’s instead of the fugly-whatever color that noctua usually uses. Assuming the current fan doesn’t fail again, I’ll probably swap it out when I do the MK3S conversion.
