Newbie : MK3S Printer (Possible to track Filament Roll usage?)

Hi All,

I was wondering if the Prusa MK3 Printer can monitor Filament roll usage?

Firmware Version: 3.8.1-2869.

My thoughts were to allow the user to Create Rolls labelling them Uniquely, enter the weight, enter diameter.
System calculates estimated length Eg: 330meters.

Then when selecting a print a new step to select the Filament Roll to print from.
This way the system can more or less keep track how many meters / inches are left on a roll.

Just to provide the user some rough indication of what is left on the Filament roll.

No, there not enough room in the memory of the printer to track that.  Any changes made even to fix core functionality bugs has to be carefully considered as it is that close to the limit at the moment for spare memory.

Just do what everyone else who is bothered does and set up something like a spreadsheet to keep track of your rolls.  Given the potential number of rolls used that is far more suitable than a printer.  Does your inkjet keep track of all the spare cartridges you may have on the shelves ?  No it doesnt.  Use the right tool for the job.

Best way is to weigh the rolls initially to work out the spool weight and then just keep weighing them to see how much has been used/is left.

As the slicer gives you both a weight used and length used you can tell if there's enough left on a roll.  Weight is more accurate in my experience then metres left.

Go to statistics, during print you will see the info of the current job, when idle you can see the total numbers.

Having problems with bed adhesion every morning...
