new i3 MK3 can't load filament completely
I've just finished putting together my i3 MK3 kit, all the parts seem to be installed correctly and running, and the preflight checks all went well up until I loaded filament. There's some kind of blockage inside the hot end assembly that I can't fix. The filament loads up to around 1/2"-3/8" from the extruder tip and then the idler clicks over and it can't get any farther. When I unload the filament it hasn't even started melting at the end. The hot end is definitely getting hot enough to melt the PLA though, when you take a piece and put it against the outside of the tip it will start to melt. Is my hot end defective? Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
Re: new i3 MK3 can't load filament completely
There's a known issue of the gear idler shaft being too short and coming loose on one end. Search for the thread that has the video showing the problem and solution.
Re: new i3 MK3 can't load filament completely
have you cut the end of the filament at an angle?
if you don't the end of the filament can catch on the end of the heatbreak
