My printer is squeaking

Hi,

I have a MK3s and its works nearly perfekt. The only issue I have is, that the extruder squeaks during prints.

I made a video of this. You can hear the squeaking there.

The prints are perfekt. I have also tried to regulate the tension of the bontech gears, but it does not change anything.

Thanks for help

Regards

Chris

For me the problem was gone after cleaning the bondtech gears and lubing them with the shipped grease from Prusa.

Aditionally you should check the alignment of the bondtech gears as well the psoition of the belt not rubbing against the pulley.

RE: My printer is squeaking

Hi, it is very difficult to fault find, i have the odd squeak out of mine.

I thought it was a dry/bad bearing on the X changed out the bearing still got it!

my only thought is it now must be in the extruder, i did not want too take it apart so used a tooth pick and a bit of lithium grease.

for now that seems to have stopped it.

my printer is a hard working one, on every day for at least 10 to 12 hours, so i do have to keep on top of the care for it

RE: My printer is squeaking

I'm experiencing squeaking from my extruder and wonder if anyone has thought that maybe it's the extruder motor shifting against the PETG mount? I can put my hand on the extruder and can feel a little wriggle during retracts, but I've yet to decide if that is where the squeak is and pull the extruder apart to tighten the motor mount screws.

Does that sound like reasonable logic to anyone experiencing this issue?

RE: My printer is squeaking

I've got the same problem a couple of days ago, but it's hard to find if it comes from the BondTech or not. I've cleaned them as suggested (they were not really dirty) but it didn't change too much the result.

Then I noticed that it seems to be related to the way the filament goes through the hole of the top cover. The position of the extruder near one end of the X-axis or not and the shape of the filament between the spool and the head seem to influence the noise. I'm not 100% sure but when the filament enters nearly straight there is no squeak. Wouldn't it be caused by the filament scrubbing the edges of the top cover hole?

Anyways,  since this has no impact on the print quality I can live with some squeaks and buzz. Maybe it's the way for the printer to express being happy printing things for me 😆
