Multiple MK3 printers having same issue

This began with some shredded first layers. 2 of my MK3 printers just wouldn't lay down a first layer due to adhesion issues ..I tweaked temps and finally got the first layers to print. Now not one, but 2 of my MK3 printers both currently running 3.8 will print for a few hours.....and then the extruder will start skipping. one or two skips a minute at first but increasing gradually until it just stops extruding and the print fails. From my reading and research this issue seems to be widespread and in a lot of cases associated with firmware 3.8. these two printers have ran for 1000s of hours with very little issue at all..... so what gives? I've read easily 2 dozen or more posts online on various forums stating similar issues seemingly just out of the blue. how can these run for so long flawlessy to fall victim to the same issues at the same time. I'm not saying it is impossible....but it does seem rather unlikely. im up on about 2 wasted rolls of filament now just trying to get a couple of items to finish printing.

This is the part where folks start saying its heat creep from the extruder stepper motor into the bondtech gears softening the filament and gumming up the works. So again I ask... why now after 1000s of hours of printing is this all of a sudden an issue. Myself, like many others, just need a viable solution. help me out hive mind

Talking about an issue and not posting a photo is like asking people "Have you seen my son?" but not showing a photo.  Post a sharp photo of the parts that are "bad", that clearly show the skipping you are referring to.  Of if you have filament piling up above the Bondtech gears or below the gears above the PTFE, and a photo of the filament tip that is removed by UNLOAD immediately following a jam.

Otherwise ... you might try contacting Prusa using store CHAT.

change of room temperature over the last 6 months?,  moving the printer to an enclosure ?, different brand of filament, printing models with more short moves with retracts ... lots of possible things -
