Mk3s louder than I expected. Need opinions
Hi everyone, just finished meticulously building my printer but it's louder than expected, especially the y axis. I'm not sure if it's an issue. Could someone please give me their opinions on if this is normal or not? Thanks everyone

Seems pretty normal to me. I reduced the noise by running the steppers in silent mode and also putting a heavy garden slab under the machine. Also note that certain types of movements seem to be inheriently noisier. So depending on what you're printing, it can noticeably change the amount of noise.

I have the same issue. The Y axis is unusually loud. I think it has something to do with the bearings. Please tell me if there is anything I can do about this.

Mine sounds exactly the same (did so from the start when I assembled it 2 years ago) and it's the reason why I only print in Silent mode, otherwise the sound is pretty much unbearable. Putting it in an enclosure with a lot of dampening material underneath it helped considerably, but it's still not nearly as quiet as the raving YouTube reviews made it seem.

Try putting it on a solid floor without all the loose stuff rolling around. The printer generates a lot of small vibrations that can match resonating frequencies with large, flat surfaces or odd loose bits. If it's quiet on the floor, you need to isolate the printer better.
