MK3S just started crashing after a print start for no apparent reason.

I was having difficulty with a few prints where I saw my bed had been shifting/slipping.  In looking over this forum, others with the same issue resolved this by tightening the baseplate belt.  I looked at mine and discovered that mine too was loose.  I tightened the belt and redid my print and it worked perfect.  Excellent print and it was all completed without a hitch.  I cleaned the sheet and started a second print of the exact same object.  The printer started, did the z-stage check, finished the first of the 4 sides loop it makes around the project and crashed.  I did a reset and tried again.  Crash.  I had been printing from my Octoprint Pi so I reset my Pi, re-uploaded my print file and tried again.  Crash.  I copied the print file to and SD card and tried to print that way.  Crash.  I created a new print file via PrusaSlicer and loaded that to print.  Crash.

Now I did try a sheet calibration and that completed fine.  So I can apparently calibrate a layer but I can't print from a file.

There is a question here.... what other kind of diagnostics should I try to figure out the reason for the crash?  This is very strange, as I said, I completed a print after my mechanical fix and it worked great.  All I did was try to print again and now I'm having repeated crashes.

Not sure what the issue was.  I did a recalibration on XYZ.  That failed on Y.  Tried again but I manually moved the Y axis as it was behaving like it was locked up.  I was manually moving it back and forth and then all of the sudden it moved much easier.  I'm not sure at all what happened.  Did a selftest and this time it passed on everything.  Recalibrated my first layer as that was lost on the recalibrate XYZ.  I honestly don't have a clue other than when I adjusted the tension in the Y axis, in 20-20 hindsight, I should have done a recalibration of the XYZ before starting a print.  I actually did a full print and it worked fine and then decided to not work but I really don't know what happened.

More info on this...

I went to the Support tab on the Prusa and checked the Belt Status:

X 276

Y 289

So both of these are within the 240 - 300 range recommended. ( https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/crash-detection_2100)

What do you mean by "crash"? What specifically happens? Also, as usual, it'd be helpful to post the 3mf file with all your settings so they can be checked in case it's a model/slicer related issue. File has to be zipped before the upload.

Description of crash

Crash?  The printer crashes.  It stops.  I don't recall the exact wording but it was something like  "System Crash" or "Crash detected".  Not sure how to be more descriptive than that.  As I posted, the issue I believe was either my lack of not performing an XYZ calibration after I adjusted the belt tension on the Y axis or something possibly that was physically binding the Y axis. I don't know.  As I said, I manually moved the Y axis just before a second XYZ calibration and the Y axis seemed to "break" free from something that was binding it.  I did not see anything visible that changed but what ever it is, it is fixed now.  In this particular case, I don't thing the .3mf file would be of any use.  The print file worked fine before this event and it works fine after.  I created a new print file and that works also.  The issue is was not in the print file.  Thanks for offering assistance but I believe the issue is resolved.

Glad you got it to work! Happy printing.

I was just asking because crash could mean crash as in your case a "crash detection", that means the nozzle has hit something. Or it could be a software or power issue,  i.e.,  printer just shutting down dead-cold.

Or, from your description, you had some plastic scrap on the Y belt or in the Y idler housing which suddenly popped free.

Cheerio,
