MK3S Extruder stepper motor acting strange (clicking but not nozzle issue)

Earlier, I damaged the E-axis motor wiring slightly (insulation melted off).  Wire is now exposed on the green wire.

Problem:

1) The E-axis functions normally under settings>move axis>E-axis.  The motor gear turns on its own without issue.  I tested without the bondtech gear unmeshed (access door full open).

2) When running 1st layer calibration (or any other model) motor starts to click intermittently (not constant).  The bondtech gear isn't even meshed when it does this.  The motor seems like it is struggling and skipping steps.

Question: Is this a problem related to the damaged motor wires, or could it be something else?

I'm not sure the damaged wire can let the extruder click (but who knows!?!)

Maybe the Live Z adjust is too low, i mean the nozzle tip is too close to the bed and the filament can't flow.

Yes I checked for any/all nozzle obstruction and Z height.  Same clicking.

unmeshed (access door full open)

oh, i saw that now.

So, maybe yes, the damage could be the cause of the issue.

I would try to swap (just for the try) Y or X and E motors (just the connectors) and see how they behave.
