mk3s extruder and old filament sensor compatibility?

Hi, just a quick question but would anyone know or think the new 3D printed extruder and other printed parts for the mk3s will work with the old filament sensor? Not sure if I wanna get the upgrade yet but easier maintenance to the ptfe tube and better cooling with the airflow sound pretty nice. Thanks!

Completely new design. What I can see there is no space for the old sensor.

My major hope is the FW for the Mk3S extruder is forked to use the 7x7 bed calibration; such a no brainer over the interpolation error.

The two sensors communicate differently with the MCU and use different pins, so I would guess it's an "all or nothing" situation. with regard to upgraded parts and firmware.

As for a 7 x 7 calibration, I have seen the "keep out" document which superimposes the build plate onto the magnet map. If they are going to do this, it will be extremely difficult at best.

I cry boo...maybe we can rewire the old sensor while waiting 😀

I bet the new sensor is like 4 wires. maybe they got it down to 3

I have a Prusa,therefore I research.

The old sensor was 4 wire, the new is only 3. Both connect to the Einsy in the same 5-pin socket, with the old spare pin being used for the new sensor, leaving the two old sensor comms pins spare.
