Mk3 + s getting y crashs and layershifts firmware issue ?
Hello guys
i have the mk3 with the s update it was all ok and suddenly i get in y crashes without any reason in my prints belts ok pullys ok all fine.
sometimes if he "crash" i get layer shifts too i updated to the newest firmware not better same problem. complete recalibration doesnt work
and the counter for used filament doenst go up same with the printed time ?
i printed these 100ml cup and get 28 y crash detections...

anyone an idea?
thx
RE: Mk3 + s getting y crashs and layershifts firmware issue ?
A Y crash is caused by the Y-Axis motor current going high enough the firmware thinks it is stalling. If you get a shift, that also means the motor really did stall, and it isn't a firmware issue.
Check that your Y-axis bed moves freely front to back ... any sticking or rough spots indicates a bearing failure or a snag problem (loose cables and loose or overly tight U-bolts have been known to cause this).

hello
now i tested printing from sd card normaly i print with octoprint. doenst work too 😀
printed 3 cups and all cups are getting crashes at nearly the same z high
printed 4 cubes no problem
that is not good because if i print a large object and then i getting these crashes i printed it for nothing...
RE: Mk3 + s getting y crashs and layershifts firmware issue ?
Why would you think it's an SD vs Octoprint issue when the suggestion is to check the Y-Axis for binding?
RE: Mk3 + s getting y crashs and layershifts firmware issue ?
Did you do maintenance on the printer.
Loose bolts, every month check them.
Wiggle every part of the printer to see if it is too loose.
Clean rods and put oil on them(i had the printer do wrong things wen i did not oil them).
RE: Mk3 + s getting y crashs and layershifts firmware issue ?
i dont know because the y axis is fine i think there is all right. next problem is that the printing time and used filament counter dont work if i print with octoprint.
i installed the mk3s update on the printer and i think thats the first bigger print job since the upgrade
i can try to oil them yes
but the object has such a thin wall that i cant blieve the printer recognize an crash
RE: Mk3 + s getting y crashs and layershifts firmware issue ?
The crash is most likely from friction.
1) It is common for the Y-Axis bearing U-bolt clamps to be too tight.
2) It's also been reported that the extruder can now crush the X-Axis bearings when the screws are too tight.
3) Even cables snagging on something.
Why does the Statistics report for crashes?
RE: Mk3 + s getting y crashs and layershifts firmware issue ?
Eike: if the printer is crashing on the Y-Axis when printing VASE mode, then the printer is NOT fine. Something is too tight.
RE: Mk3 + s getting y crashs and layershifts firmware issue ?
i dont know whats happen with the printer why i can print the object without any crashes for de first 70% and then i get the crash ?
works fine to insert media data xD
RE: Mk3 + s getting y crashs and layershifts firmware issue ?
it could be as you get further from the bed the part flexes more and the motor sees the change in pressure and hits the "crash" current limit
RE: Mk3 + s getting y crashs and layershifts firmware issue ?
As your extruder moves higher, the size of the part is increasing and the print speed is increasing along with the part size. Faster printing means higher chance of friction causing a stall/crash. Invert the part and you'll see more crashes lower down, less as the part builds.

Add a few drops of machine oil on the rods (if you don't have machine oil, a few drops of motor oil also works); work the bearings back and forth a few times to distribute the oil. See if that helps.
