Metalic dust found next to Bondtech gears

Is this normal? I've just recently assembled the Mk3S kit and haven't even printed half a spool of filament yet.

Could it be that the extruder idler is too tight?

Normal - no.

Expectable - yes.

The Bondtechs need a bit of lithium grease at their intercalation gear teeth to avoid this type of wear. It is a result of having two different diameter both tied together and spinning at same rate. The filament grabbing teeth and intercalation teeth both revolve together, but are different diameter. One or the other must slip - that is why you see the metal wear.

Clean it out the metal particles with a brush and vacuum. Apply a small amount of lithium grease to the big teeth. It will still have some wear, but to a lesser degree.
