Material flow is uneven wit 0.6 mm nozzle (first layer calibration)
Hi,
I have a problem with the first layer calibration. The material comes out very thin, and the flow is not very constant. I first thought it was the nozzle. After cleaning and several cold pulls I thought the nozzle might be damaged. So I have switched the 0.4 Nozzle for a new 0.6 nozzle. I have set the nozzle in the settings menu to 0.6 too. When I load the filament, I get a nice and steady flow. But as soon as I want to calibrate the first layer, the materialflow is very thin and uneven. I do not get good lines. I have no idea what is going wrong and what I need to change. Any help is very welcome.
Regards,
Peter

Sorry - I missed your reply.
You are correct in that the PrusaSlicer settings will not affect the First Layer Calibration that you make from the printer's menu. The video of your First Layer Calibration with a 0.6mm nozzle setting suggests that the nozzle is too high. You will need to dial in the Z-offset to move the nozzle closer to the bed. Rather than me spend lots of words on that, I will refer you to the section of Bob's Project Notebook on Live-Z Calibration. Bob's site is an excellent resource and it should help you to move forward.
My point about profiles was to make sure to use a profile for a 0.6mm nozzle when you come to print something. There are Prusa defined profiles for the MK3 model with different nozzle sizes too - just run the Configuration Assistant in PrusaSlicer to see them.
Cheers,
Tim

Hard to visualize. A photo might help.

Perhaps asking the obvious but...
In PrusaSlicer, do you have the Prusa-defined printer profiles for the 'MK3S with 0.6mm nozzle' installed
If you have, they will be visible under the Printer drop-down menu in the right-side section of PrusaSlicer. The printer profile is called 'Original Prusa i3 MK3S & MK3S+ 0.6 nozzle'.
If you don't see that, you can re-run the Configuration Assistant from the Configuration menu to add them and work from there.

Thank you for your responses. It is indeed more helpful to show some pictures or movies. I have made some short video’s
First: while filament loading, the flow looks fine to me:
But then with the first layer calibration, everything goes wrong:

I am not sure what you mean. I have an MK3, without the S. Also, what has the slicer software settings to do with first layer calibration?

Hi, thanks. This time I missed your answer. I have solved the problem exactly as you described. I assumed that the standard calibration would be adapted to the new nozzle setting. My mistake. I created a modified "first calibration layer" file for the 0.6 nozzle, problem solved. And, indeed, the nozzle setting was much too high.
