Material collecting on nozzle

Hey.. I've been having an issue lately (since R3 extruder update) with material building up on the outside of the nozzle. It gets randomly deposited in a blob which cools and the next time the head gets to the deposit area, there is a collision. It has caused layer shifts and popping the part off the build plate. Any ideas? Thanks DaveA

Running 3.4.0 firmware..

Re: Material collecting on nozzle

perhaps a little over extrusion?

clean the nozzle before the next print, and try turning the flow down 5%

regards Joan

So, reduce the extrusion multiplier?

Re: Material collecting on nozzle

you could do that, or for a test, go into settings on the lcd and reduce flow!...

and print the original file! that way you know there was only one change!

Oh... ;>) Wasn't familiar with that in the lcd menu. I'll give it a try. Thank you..

Yes for sure when you ask questions to experience.. My lin correction was set to 1.055. I set it to off.. It's warming to print now. I'll update when the print comes out perfect..... 😀

Thanks..

Re: Material collecting on nozzle

As a note, you can wipe the outside of the heater block and nozzle with acetone to clean it off a lot better. I heat mine up to 215 degrees to loosen anything stuck on there first. Then I take a paper towel and fold it a LOT, to protect my soft computer operator flesh from the death ray heat of the heater block. I put a bunch of acetone on the paper towel and scrub it a bit.

I always have a nice and shiny heater block, even after the last massive failure where the heater block decided it wanted to become a filament spool...

I find I can reduce the problems of things sticking on the heater block once things are clean and printing normally with one of these heater condoms get the genuine e3d brand to be sure they will fit...

Thanks all for your suggestions. I tried Joan's advice and it cleared up my problem... Thanks Joan.. I seem to remember setting the lin accel for the extruder to the 1.055 after one of the firmware updates..
