Machine stuck at flash logo

Greetings and salutations.

A couple of days ago, I attempted to update fw on my Mk3 from 3.3.0 to 3.3.1 since it boasts better quality and so on.
For an unknown reason, flash failed and it was my first time trying the new Slicer PE method (all previous sessions with the old updater went through).
My printer has been stuck since then on the very first flash logo/ screen that appears when the machine is started.
I've attempted to rewrite the firmware, use the older firmware it already got, try on different computers, try different cables and all to no avail.

I've contacted support and they were generous enough to answer only 2 days later with a link to a tool called XLoader to try and flash the firmware with not any instructions.
I searched online to find that the RAMBo board on the Mk3 is an ATMEGA2560 device which was vital for the re-flashing process and it still resulted in failure.
I already attempted to factory reset with the little X button method and it won't work.

I'm at a complete loss of what to do and official support mail is way too slow for a real, progressive solution.
That's why I decided to get help from fellow users and from @josefprusa himself if possible.

I bought the Mk3 with great expectations from my Mk2S.
It failed after almost the 3rd print and melted filament somehow reached the filament sensor, broke it and been waiting for the MMU2.0 to regain this function ever since (and it's unknown how much I'll have to further wait).
It's constantly jammed with higher quality prints and I've been tirelessly unjamming it every single time.
This time around, it just decided to up and stop working altogether.
I implore you to please at least help me get it functioning again the imperfect, faulty way it was.

All help is appreciated and thank you all in advance.

Step by step Faris. Is your printer definitely on COM3? Check your Device Manager.

Here is info on XLoader - http://www.hobbytronics.co.uk/arduino-xloader

Hi, Olef.
Yes, it indeed is on COM3 and disconnecting the USB cable removes the option from XLoader.

OK, so now we know we're on the right COM port. Next would be cable but you mentioned you have tried different ones so we can tick that box.

Slim hope, but have you tried using the old style Prusa firmware updater which has just been superseded by the one in Slic3r? That utility has recovered a few failed flashes from Slic3r.

A factory reset / wipe all data may help too, if you can access the option.

Let me know how it goes, good luck!

I did try the older firmware updater and it now returns with an error, too.
I tried to perform a factory reset but it wouldn't beep as it should.

Getting the factory reset menu is a bit tricky. Just in case you are not quite getting it right, you need to press the X button, then release it, then immediately as you see the "Original Prusa i3 Prusa Research" splash press and hold the control knob until you hear the beep and get the menu. Then select erase all data.

If the reset fails still, and both the XLoader and the old Prusa Firmware updater fails to recover your printer then it is possible you have a faulty Einsy board. I suggest you chat with support (email is too slow) and you could link them this thread for info as to what you have tried etc. The chat link is the yellow box on the bottom right of the Prusa shop page.

Please come back and let me know how you get on, I would like to know what the problem is and it will help anyone else reading this down the line.

Best of luck!

I tried the factory reset exactly as you said and followed a method seen on YouTube and none worked.
I'll get in touch with support right now since I just came back from work.

Re: Machine stuck at flash logo

I've contacted LiveChat and after nearly 4 hours of trying it was concluded that I had a faulty board.
Thankfully, a replacement was issued and is on the way ^_^

Many thanks @Olef for your kind support!!!
At least it's getting fixed and my 3D printing withdrawal effects will cease soon enough 😆
