LOTS of stringing

Im too stupid to use this forum lol, so here is my problem:

I recently bought an Prusa Mk3S+ from ebay. It has got an Zaribo extruder stepper motor. At the sellers place, the printer worked great. However, now when printing at home, I have tons of stringing. Im using prusaslicer standard profiles. The filament is not the problem. My Ratrig printer prints with identical filament just fine.

Hi, 
Have you still got the model that the seller printed, on the memory card? 
If so, can you please try printing that? 

see if it strings with your filament, if it does not string with your filament, we can check the temperatures that the printer is set for

and see if it is different to what you are using. 

If you don't have the file the seller used... try printing one of the prusa pre sliced files. 

just a thought, is the nozzle a standard 0.4mm Brass nozzle?

I do not have the gcode from the seller.

Im using PLA from a Germany company called "Recyclingfabrik". On the spool they reccomend 205C. However, I've printed as low as 195C and the stringing remained. I also had some Prusament ASA laying around, and using compleatly standard profiles it is still stringing a lot.

Im using a .4mm nozzle. It was in a 15€ nozzle kit from Amazon.

Ive printed an Benchy with the gcode downloaded from printables. Still stringing.

On my Mk3, I had one filament that was stringy down to 170C.  I had to lower the low temperature extrusion limiter to enable such a low temperature. 
Probably not the issue here. 

have you tried a temperature tower? 
(Make sure you see the temperatures change as the print progresses. )
on a second hand  printer, it is always possible that the thermistor is a different model. 
a different model could give the wrong resistance as temperature progresses, which can lead to wrong temperature display

Hey,

so ive printed with a lowered temperature (180°C). it did not help. neither did swapping to a .5mm original bontech nozzle. there are still fine strings on the prints. I also printed an temperature tower, and at 175°C the print looked like the extruder skipped.

I believe The Prusa Mk3 has a low temperature print limit of 170C  is it possible that your nozzle temperature dropped below 170 C causing the firmware to stop extruding, legitimately?

When I had a similar stringing problem with a white filament .
I lowered the Low temperature extrusion setting to 140C, to prevent interraction with the 170C Print temperature... 
then I finally got that filament to print without strings. 

You may get different results if you change the low temperature extrusion value using Gcodes. 

in the above picture the white and red are PLA, and the Black, is TPU
you can see the remains of strings, which didn't clear with the use of a kitchen lighter flame. 

the TPU Provides quite a good hinge

So ive read somewhere else to disable z hop. This mostly fixed the issue for me. Now a 3d benchy prints fine. I think i should dry my filament though. Im printing 180°c and the stringing is mostly gone. Also ive printed an retraction tower, and the best retraction setting seems to be around 1,1mm, so pretty close on the standard.
