I have been printing pottery forms for my wife lately.  The last several I’ve printed have had a strange wave pattern intermittently on the topmost layer.  I thought maybe it needed some maintenance - so I greased the bearings, and ran the z-axis print test - it seemed fine.  I didn’t do the test with the piece of paper under the nozzle though.

I have an MK3s printer.

I am using new PLA, and I’ve updated the firmware to the latest, and am using the latest version of PrusaSlicer.

I am wondering if perhaps I have a belt tension issue?  I would appreciate any thoughts.

The bottom is perfect!  Flat, smooth, just lovely.  I‘m wondering if I should just do a complete calibration and see if that helps?

I wonder if you are over extruding.

I wouldn‘t know how to figure that out.  Is that something that can be configured for top layers?  It only seems to happen on large, flat top layers.  If i print detailed things like an articulating dragon, no issues.  Just the large flat faces, and always the top layer.  I know there are settings in Prusa Slicer for top layers, could you recommend some settings?

Adjust the extrusion modifier up and down in the slicer and see if it improves or worsens.
