Issue with printing (Stringing, bad first layer etc)
Hi,
I built my Prusa printer about a month ago, all seemed to be well (minus a few errors), though I did notice the nozzle would let filament through when it was just hot (without actually extruding, but only a bit)
Attached are some images of what happens when I try to print the given gear-bearing file on the SD card.
Any idea on how I could go about diagnosing the cause of the issue?

cleaned the bed using soap and after drying, isopropyl alcohol, yet same results.
Do it again. There are visible smears in your pictures and filament debris.
Clean the sheet with dishwashing detergent (Dawn/Fairy) and plenty of HOT water, rinse well and dry with a fresh paper towel. Handle by the edges only.
Your first layer Z is a little high. You could usefully have more squish.
Cheerio,

I'd clean the bed (use lots of IPA or lots of soap and hot water) and readjust z-height, it looks a bit high to me...
What do you mean by " the nozzle would let filament through when it was just hot (without actually extruding, but only a bit)"?
Some initial oozing when heating the nozzle is normal that's the rest of the filament from the last print...

@robin
Yes, I cleaned the bed using soap and after drying, isopropyl alcohol, yet same results.
Z height is high as I stopped the print before it got tangled in the nozzle and manually set it higher.
If the oozing is normal then i guess I don't need to worry, it did weird me out a bit at first

Z-height is too high from the start. Look at the skirt, it‘s not sticking, it‘s not squeezed, instead the nozzle pulled the first bit over the bed in a straight line. Reduce the z-height (=increase the number in the LCD while adjusting)….
