Is there a modification to protect the thermistor wires?

Looking at my second thermistor replacement this year.  I'm cleaning the nozzle more frequently since enabling ironing on top surfaces of some prints.  I have the brass brushes but the bristles bend too easily and then it is hard to ensure that they don't cause damage  so I switched to a paper towel and that is probably what did the recent damage.  My question is, is there something I can add to shield the delicate thermistor wires from being damaged? Or, alternately a more focused nozzle cleaning method?  Thank you!

There's isn't much you can do about it with the current design of the hotend, were the wires of thermistor and heater make a sharp 90º turn just at the exit of the heater block. What I'd recommend is to use a silicone sock (yes I know that some people here hates them.. 🙄 ). This way, most of the filament will stick to the sock instead of the nozzle or the heater block. Extra care is always needed to avoid damaging the wires but it's much easier to clean filament debris from silicone rubber than from the metallic surfaces of the nozzle or the heater block. Besides, you can remove the sock, clean it and reinstall it. No worries about breaking anything. There's still the tip of the nozzle that remains exposed but this part isn't so close to the wires, there're less chances of wire damage.
