IR problem does not stop printing

Hello.

About two months ago, I received a new 3D printer - Original Prusa i3
MK3S+ kit assembly v3.22.

I assembled the printer and ran several tests on it, including IR
sensor test. When the PLA wire was cut, the printer stopped
immediately. So the IR sensor worked properly.

Some time later, I decided to print my design. It needs 8 hours to
print. The PLA wire roll has insufficient material for the entire print
job. However I knew that the printer will stop when it runs out of the
filament and I'll be able to replace the roll.

However, it turned out that the printer continued to work even with no
PLA filament. I wasted 7 hours.

I checked again the IR sensor and verified on the LCD display that the
sensor works properly.

My guess is that the extruder body overheated and got warped,
preventing the IR sensor from working properly and starting/stopping
the print job.

Any suggestions how to solve the problem?

Not from PLA it didn't.  Pla is relatively cool.  It is more likely some stringies are still down in the hole.  Remove the cover for the IR sensor, clean it out, remount it and see if you're good.
