I3 MK3 randomly stops during printing

Hi, I have been enjoying my MK3 for a couple of years but now I suddenly have a problem again.

I have not been printing much recently, and only small objects, and that worked well.

But now the printer stopped twice at random during printing of a 6-7hr print. The first time it stopped at 2mm, the second time at 21mm into the print.

The print looks otherwise perfect.

I just find the printer has stopped, the bed and nozzle are cold, and the display shows z0.0 (see attached picture).

I'm running some old firmware and have not changed a thing.

Any help would be much appreciated!

I have now pressed the reset button on the controller and am trying for a third time.

The only problem that I had recently with the printer was that it initially recognises the SD card, but then claims that there is no SD card inserted when I want to 'Print from SD' . However, it has done that many times before, and eventually it will start to print and then finish the print.

This problem of not reliably finding the SD card could be related to the cable extensions which I have added. Wrapping the ribbon cables in aluminium foil for shielding seemed to have fixed the issue for a while.

Reset button did not change the issue. 3rd consecutive print stopped, this time at about z10mm. Again displays z0.0 and has lost it's knowledge of the z position somehow.

Trying for a 4th time, leaving the cover off in case it is related to heat building up in the enclosure. I had been leaving the enclosure open for most large prints for the last year, because of filament changes required. But this current print is a single colour print, so I closed the lid to reduce warping.

With 80C bed temp, maybe it is getting too warm in there for one component or another.
