I goofed , and order the wrong kit, or something
So, long story short, I received my MMU3 kit, and all went well , until I realized I actually had a MK3S, and not a MK3S+, ugh!
So the extruder mod for the MMU3 is not going to go as planned, this could also explain my random filament sensor issues, but that is another story. If I reassemble the extruder on my MK3S, and print the extruder parts for the MK3S+, will it work? I don't see why not. I can order the SuperPinda later if needed. I'll have to check my assembly book to see what I can do...

AFAIK, the MMU3 requires an MK3S+ from an electronics perspective, i.e. the more modern (red) filament sensor and sensor cable as well as a SuperPINDA. I believe I have read that the new sensor has a slightly different shape, which could mean that the old sensor does not fit into the revised extruder top. The modern filament sensor was already supplied with the MMU2S, so if you are upgrading an MMU2S unit, you should be covered in that respect. Otherwise you´d need to obtain a new filament sensor, but you should check with Prusa Support Chat first, I´d say. The SuperPINDA is the other electronic difference between Mk3S and S+, and would need to be obtained, too. I just revamped my MK3S with a SuperPINDA in order to upgrade my MMU2S to MMU3 once the upgrade kit arrives.
From the extruder hard parts, I had modified the original Mk3S extruder filament intake to the MMU2S-required intake, if I recall correctly, and later re-modified to a third-party intake tower as I could not get the MMU2S to work reliably. I have yet to check which filament intake is required for the MMU3 but all parts needed should be available for self-printing at printables.com, so I don´t worry about it at this time.

I have the red IR sensor, and I am not sure about the Pinda, if it is a super or not.

I reassembled the hot end last night and printed the extruder parts for the MK3S+. Parts came out ok, maybe too hot on the extruder temp, but I can redo later if necessary. This morning I disassembled the extruder and "upgraded" it to "+" status, and downgraded to FW 3.11.0-4955. I went back to 3.11.0 as I was having issues with the filament sensor and autoloading. The printer was seeing the sensor, and it was working correctly, but sometimes didn't autoload .
Anyway, redid the "Wizard" calibration and first layer calibration went well. 🙂
Going to do a quick test print, then finish upgrading to MMU3
One question... Do I really NEED a SuperPINDA? Or can it work for now, until place anther order with Prusa? Looking to get some filament and some other spares shortly.
