How to prevent free strands

I'm pretty new to this, looking for some guidance.

The part in the attached image has a supporting bevel that ends about 1mm inside the final ledge.  As seen in the photo, I get long free-standing filaments that aren't adhered to the ledge.  They *should be* the bottom surface of the ledge.  It should be attached along the back side, as it is being laid down next to an existing layer.  So it's a long free stretch lengthwise, but no free gap in the other dimension.  Have I got some tolerances / settings wrong, or just need to tell slicr something different?  Is this a bridging issue?dangling strings

looks like you need supports, turn on "supports on build plate only" in PrusaSlicer

It's a combination of an unsupported perimeter and it almost looks like the slicer placed a seam at the corner, which further complicates matters. A side effect of all this is the new extrusion doesn't adhere to the previous layers and you get a loose strand down the part.

Basically, the printer is printing in free space and the filament has nothing to sit on; so it sags. Bridging detects these locations and slows print speed and extrusion amounts to help the extrusion cool enough it supports itself as the nozzle moves away.  

Turn on Detect Bridging, and that will help with perimeters that are bridging, though it may not entirely cure the problem.
