How do I stop heating the bed during a filament change?

I have 2x Prusa I3 MK 3's (S, S+), and the bed heats up during a filament swap.  This is not intuitive, not helpful, and I just failed another print because I didn't clean the bed because it was too hot.  The bed was dusty, so the filament didn't stick.

I generally like the filament change process in the firmware, save for the bed heating up.  It's better than the manual controls on my Ender 3's.

I use Octoprint for all my printers. That changes my point of reference substantially.I have a couple Is MK 3's, an XL on the way, a fleet of Ender 3v2s, a couple Lulzbot Taz 6's, a CR30 and…

This is important, because I'm over 30 minutes into waiting on the bed to cool down enough to where I can clean it.

Clean it before the filament swap.

I've been looking for a way to turn the bed heating off during filament swap as well. It's just a waste of time and power since there's no need for it. Hoping someone can provide a useful answer. If it's not possible to turn off, what's the reason behind heating the bed?

I wouldn't worry about it, I'm not aware of anyone having a failure related to this.

If your swapping filament aren't you likely to be printing, which requires you to heat up the bed? If you're not going to print why swap the filament?

You are reframing the issue for little-to-no reason to shut down discourse. That's generally called bad faith. However, in this case, I have had several failures due to this, so I can speak to your reframing directly. I have all my printers connected via Octoprint, and I've done that since 2010 or so when I got my first wooden printer, so I forget that sometimes other people don't, and use an SD card or USB stick.

If you swap out filament, the printer keeps the tool and bed turned on. If you then go to select a file but it takes longer than a few minutes to find it, the printer will automatically turn the heating elements off. However, it doesn't stop there, and it enters a state where a user has to push a button. Importantly, the printer stops responding to commands via a USB cable, so Octoprint can't do anything about the issue. Nor can a user through Octoprint.

So, in order of operations: I swap out the filament for some other material or color. Then I walk back to my desk to select what I want to print, and the safety timer elapses. I then slice and send the file to the printer and don't think anything of it. ~2 hours later I go to check on the print, and it hasn't even started yet. I walk over to the printer, push a button, and then it starts reheating.
