hotend thermal runaway

Hi,

Does anyone know "exactly" which E3D heater and and thermistor are the correct one from E3D for the i3 MK3? I want to purchase a replacement heater and thermistor set but they are not available at the Prusa eshop and I am unsure which parts to order from E3D. Also any troubleshooting help would be greatly appreciated.

Background:
I have been printing fine for months (ever since I got the MK3 in May) but last week I started having thermal runaway errors with the hotend. It is been happening every print in PLA and PET. During troubleshooting I have gotten the selftest error "Heater/Thermistor not connected" but then after power cycling the printer the selftest will pass. I suspect the Einsy board but the heater and thermistor are also suspect and they are cheaper to replace.

Troubleshooting steps performed:
1) Checked seating of thermistor and heater at the print head and the connections at the Einsy board.
2) Inspected cables for damage
3) Unplugged and reseated the thermistor and heater at the eons board.
4) Run PID at 210 and 240 several times.
5) Lowered fan speed.
6) Performed factory reset and got a selftest error "Heater/Thermistor not connected," but after a power cycle of the printer the self test passes.

Printer info:
Model i3 MK3
FW 3.3.1-845

Prints gcode'd from Prusa edition Slic3r 1.40.1+

Thanks,
Charles

Hi Charles,

Your Mk3 cannot be more than two years old so I expect those parts are covered by Warrantee, have you had a chat with Prusa support

the chat service is available on the eShop page, bottom right hand corner see image above. (Chat Now)

also in the image above you can see the thermistor item....

both the heater and the thermistor are showing in stock... BUT YOU HAVE TO BE LOGGED IN TO THE SHOP PAGE
if you are logged in to the shop page and still can't see the items, have a chat with support, and they will check your account is enabled to see the items.

Regards Joan
