Hotend heater cartridges differences
So I broke off one of two wires in the red cable, mainly the hotend heater I suppose in my printer Prusa mk3. While I was looking for it online, I came across some of them (red cable being 24V 40W, but not specified to be for Prusa. Those have higher price.
My question is, what's the diffrence between pretty much identically looking cables? Would I be okay, with buying locally a standard cable like this, or do I need specifically some type of it? Why it would have be a dedicated one? it's mainly less acquirable for me, but it's also couple times more expensive

Any 24v 40w heater cartridge of the same dimensions will work. What's at question is the wire length and connector. I can tell you the standard E3d one works and from my perspective is better. The one I bought had a second connector closer to the cartridge that the prusa specific doesnt have. It does mean you have to route it in such a way to be able to tuck that extra connector out the way near the fan shroud. The rest of the wire length is long enough and I did have to swap the connector from the old prusa one to plug it into the einsy (which just screws on anyway).
The long term advantage is I can now replace the heater cartridge without undoing the cable bundle. Its such an advantage that I added connectors to the fans, thermistor, etc too so that I can swap any of them without touching the bundle. Figured if I was redoing the bundle anyway then I might as well. I was doing a extruder rebuild at the time rather than a repair.
