Hotend and bed suddenly not heating
I've been using my MK3 happily for months when suddenly the hotend and bed stopped heating up. I confirmed the temperature sensors still work by using a hairdryer. But when I try to (pre-)heat, nothing happens. I swapped all fuses and still nothing. The printer otherwise seems to work (motors, UI, etc.).
I contacted customer support a couple of days ago but got 0 response so far. I couldn't find anything for the internet - some people complain about burnt connectors, but I see no damage on the mobo or anywhere else.
Any tips?
Re: Hotend and bed suddenly not heating
does the set temp actually show up on the display? can you see the leds on the bed? if its truly trying to heat but not seeing an increase on the thermistor it should throw an error eventually. have you tried using pronterface/terminal/etc to send commands?
bed power wires are one of the more common points of failure.
Re: Hotend and bed suddenly not heating
It sounds like you are having the same issue as me. My temperatures post, however the board doesn't send current to the hotend or heating bed.
Re: Hotend and bed suddenly not heating
Did you ever get it figured out? I'm having the same issue. The led light is not up when I plug the hotend in
RE: Hotend and bed suddenly not heating
I am having this same issue. Printer was working then a week later it stopped heating up the hotend and heatbed. It also appears that the LED on the hotbed isn't lighting up and there doesn't appear to be any voltage going to the terminals on the bed.
Were you able to find a solution that you wouldn't mind sharing?
RE: Hotend and bed suddenly not heating
Hi, I had the same problem. Everything working except power to the bed and extruder. The problem turned out to be reversed wiring on the power panic. This won't normally happen as the plug will only fit one way in the Einsy board. I have a non-standard PSU though, so had to rewire the power supply. However, power panic issues are a good suspect for this problem as they turn off the extruder and bed heaters when triggered and it's easy to test - just unplug the power panic from the Einsy board and see if the heaters start working again.
RE: Hotend and bed suddenly not heating
I was having the same problems as described above. When I unplugged the panic power plug, the heating elements started working correctly.
I figured out when I built my enclosure I installed a bulk head connector to pass the wires through and I switched the black / white wires around through the plug. Completely my oversight.
Thank you for the tip and assisting me in finding a solution @andy-k3.
RE: Hotend and bed suddenly not heating
Hi,
I would also disconnect the black/white power panic cable from the Einsy board and try again.

RE: Hotend and bed suddenly not heating
For future reference, in case anyone has the same issue.
I experienced the same "bed and hotend not heating" issue on a brand new i3 MK3S+ (kit), but for a different reason.
Problem description: During the second print with my new MK3S+, the printer suddenly threw the power panic error, however, all the fans were spinning upon reboot. I then tried to resume printing from blackout via the LCD menu and it immediately went into power panic again (and again, and again, in a loop). I discarded the print, switched the power supply off and on again and was able to move the x-, y- and z-axis via the menu. However, neither the bed, nor the hotend were able to heat up. The bed's LED was not working either, but the Super PINDA probe's LED was working.
Solution: I accidentally pinched the power panic cable when installing the PSU cover. Removing the cover and routing the cable through the cutout solved the issue. The manual does not specifically mention to check for pinched cables at this step, but it's still my fault for not paying enough attention I guess.
It is also a good idea to check the fuses, which I did, but they were fine and not the cause of the problem.
