Help! Filament keeps getting stuck to nozzle during print
My initial prints of my MK3 kit was really good. Been printing the same object over and over with small modifications and changes in between. Using the Slicer version from Prusa default settings.
One day the old "furrbal"l was the result probably due to the part came lose from the printbed. Also a lot of plastic stuck around the nozzle. I think it build up to the point it pushed the object of the plate. Printing was 50-60% done.
After cleaning the nozzle and making sure extrusion was working. Cleaning the bed (black sheet metal I think is the name) as I normally do in between prints.
I have been trying for DAYS to get the printer up and running again. IMPOSSIBLE to get first layer calibration to succeed. Usually the lines moving in X-directions works but when it changes directions appears to loose contact with build plate. Adjusting z abit (I'm around 0.853) downwards. The filament starts sticking to the nozzle instead. It's like the nozzle has "stickiness" to it. Cleaned it best I can.
This is seriously annoying! Is this the correct place to open a support ticket for this? I moved away from Wanhao i3 printer to get away from troubleshooting 3D printing rather than working on my project. I guess I'm back at that situation. On facebook I'm "bombarded" with commercials from Prusa about the ease and consistent result. I'm not a fan at the moment.
Sorry for negative approach but my experience is not to par with other Prusa users so I guess this is fixable.
Now... Any pointers? 🙂

You probably hve fingerprint oil on the bed. Take it off and wash with some good quality detergent and dry it off with a paper towel. Try not to touch the print surface with your fingers while you do this.

Actually made progress. It could be related to your tips.
I just upgraded firmware to latest 3.5.1 (some issues relelated to z-calibration).
ALSO probably what solved it (appears to be printing fine. Lets see.)
I flipped the heatbed since it's double sided. Just to get a new unused surface...
Z-cal worked directly. Even though my new setting went up (in height) to .0835.
So I will look into cleaning methods. Have been using Acetone. Is that a mistake?
Should get that finger oil wiped away easily. Using PCB-wipes which are good enough to clean my PCB's with...

The thing about acetone is that is is a solvent and, unless you are vey particular about the way you wipe the bed with it, you end up smearing the oils around the bed which remain there when the acetone evapourates. Using detergent away from the printer generally will take away the oils when you rinse it off.

Testprint was successful to 90%.... Then it failed due to how the PLA had been spooled.. One layer was so "perfect" the last "thread" was so tight is did not unspool.... Stuck... Tried to unwind and the next "layer" also stuck... This is the PLA that came with the MK3...

Filament does not come knotted. especially
Prusament. It needs help to get that way...
The normal causes are letting go of the end of the filament and letting it get tangled. Or respooling the filament badly after it spills off the spool Or letting the filament get loose during use. And the windings crossing each other.

The spool is spooled by whoever did it for/at Prusa.
It has stuck like this two times on the same spool. Experienced it on cheaper filaments earlier. It was spooled really from left to right "super controlled" but I guess the width of the filament and the spool width is evenly divisible. Meaning that the it kind of stucks.

Any chance your spool could have taken a knock and the side got deformed at the point it is sticking? The filament is pretty tightly packed in there and it may not take a lot to jam it, although I've not seen it myself.

Many spools of filament, including Prusa and third party brands, and I have never had a spool with filament under another wrap.
