Heatbed Termistor

Hi everyone,

Sadly the delivery for a new heatbed thermistor kit from Prusa is 5 times the cost of the actual component, is there anyone who can recommend somewhere in the UK I could buy a suitable replacement?

I believe the break in the wire has occurred somewhere in the sleeve.

Can anyone confirm that this will do the job? It looks like it should (then all I need to do is source the tape).

Why are you replacing it?  Presumably the part has failed in use; remember you have probably got a two year warranty...

In similar situations I make up the weight of the parcel to just below the next charge step with filament which otherwise would be simlarly expensive to transport.

The part you linked looks OK but I have no experience with 3rd part sourcing these.  If you are out of warranty you are not risking much with this, just check the resistance is plausible then try it:  If it fails you might blow a fuse on the Einsy board but that should be it.

Cheerio,

Sadly the machine in question is just out of warranty.

I will not be buying any more filament from Prusa until the deliveries come back down to a more reasonable level. While you have to be careful with some of the UK manufacturers I can buy at 2:1 because of the high delivery charges at Prusa (possibly more when import charges come into play).

RE: Thermistor

I have installed the type 104NT4-4-R025H42G (100k) on the heating bed. It is certainly available somewhere near you. Cheap replacement types I would rather avoid, because the temperatures may vary or deviate.

Lower cost PLA

Have you tried 3DQF? Uk based, inexpensive, cardboard reels with tail cut off option to prevent jams on filament out.

You can even collect, if close enough!

2 year?

Two year warrantee on wear part like thermistor?  My heat bed thermistor just took a "bed mintemp" fault - so I ordered a pair of them from Prusa assuming they are wear parts (they flex over and over and seem to qualify for that).  I was not aware that we had a two year warrantee - that's good news (not for buying spares, but for one replacement).

Here Prusa writes something about the warranty conditions: https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/warranty_2288
